We’ve just had Bonfire weekend and that meant fireworks, and lots of them! Fireworks can be a great way to end a wedding. However, perhaps the venue you like or have chosen doesn’t allow fireworks but you’d still like a magical way to end your wedding day.
A wedding send-off is great way to end the day if you’re keen to avoid lots of individual goodbyes with all of your guests which can take up a lot of time at the end of a long (but fantastic!) special day! They are also a fun way to have a final activity which really involves your guests and gives them an extra experience to remember.
Here are seven creative send-off ideas which guests will still be talking about long after the wedding day!
1) Sparklers These are probably one of the most popular ways to finish your special day. They look really elegant (see image above!) and every guest can get involved. Get everyone to make an aisle which you as a bridal couple can walk through and wave goodbye to all your guests.
2) Bubbles Definitely one of the most enjoyable ways, not only for kids, but for adults who want to feel like kids! This is an activity all your guests can get on board with. Talk to your photographer about lighting to ensure the bubbles are illuminated whilst in the air. If you really want to make an impact with the bubbles then perhaps think about purchasing bubble guns for each member of your bridal party as this will significantly increase the amount of bubbles.
3) Sky lanterns When lit up and floating in the sky these can look amazing. Lanterns can be costly so it may be advisable to purchase just enough for your bridal party and guests are still guaranteed to enjoy the spectacle! It’s also advisable to have a trial run before the big day so they can go off without a hitch.
4) Glow sticks Most people think of festivals and nightclubs when it comes to glow sticks, but for an evening wedding exit these can look really colourful and bring that party feel. Hand the glow sticks out to guests as they hit the dance floor so they can have as much fun as possible with them before giving you a glowing send-off!
5) Smoke bombs These have grown in popularity over the years and can add an alternative edge to your wedding. Smoke bombs look most colourful during the day but they can have a mysterious impact when used in the evening. If you want your wedding exit to leave guests wondering then perhaps this would fit the bill! Venues with lots of outdoor space are ideal for these but do check that they are allowed onsite and consider a professional supplier to provide the smoke bombs.
Depending on the time of year you are having your wedding, such as a winter wedding, or if you find that the weather may not be on your side, you may have to consider having a wedding send-off indoors. So the final two options are suggestions to be held indoors but still have a great impact!
6) Ribbon wands Bring some romantic flair to your indoor wedding send off with ribbon wands that your guests can hold up and create a long arch for you to walk down. You could even look at purchasing ribbon wands in a colour that matches your wedding theme colour palette for more style factor!
7) Party poppers Some people may only associate these with New Year’s Eve or a surprise party, but why not use these for an exciting wedding exit! Get your photographer to co-ordinate a countdown with your guests so the popping is timed just right to get the perfect shot. If you want an extra pop then consider getting confetti cannons.
